Half-Ghouls (also more commonly known as One-Eyed Ghouls) are a hybrid species between humans and ghouls. Half-ghouls share all of the common traits that ghouls possess, except that they seem to have the tendency to develop Kakujas faster and at a higher success rate. Additionally, they only possess one kakugan. There are also two types of One-Eyed ghouls - artificial and natural. Natural One-Eyed Ghouls are born from a successful pregnancy of a human mother and a ghoul father. As chances of conception are very low, this type of One-Eyed Ghouls is rarer than the other type, artificial One-Eyed ghouls. Artificial half-ghouls are created when a human undergoes a surgery during which a Kakuhou is transplanted. The Kakuhou then adapts the biology of the host body, making it so that the half-ghoul can only sustain themselves by eating human flesh. The subject also gains the power of an actual ghoul by attaining improved strength, speed, reaction times, stamina and durability, as well as regeneration and the ability to use the Kagune. Unlike natural One-Eyed Ghouls, artificial ones aren't born with their RC pathways developed, instead developing them on the go and having to get their muscles damage in order to have their regeneration create a pathway in the regenerated spot.
